Richarda Morrow-Tait, affectionately known as ‘Dikki,’ a trailblazing pilot and adventurer from Cambridge, has been honoured with a blue plaque in recognition of her remarkable achievement as the first woman to fly around the world.

The plaque was unveiled at Cambridge Airport on 19 August 2024, marking the 75th anniversary of the completion of her historic flight. The plaque will be installed at student accommodation ³ÉÈ˶¶Òõ St Regis, Chesterton Road, Cambridge, on the site where Richarda once lived.

The Blue Plaque scheme commemorates people and events that have made a significant impact on the area, the UK or, indeed, the world and is run by local charity Cambridge Past, Present & Future. This is the 40th blue plaque since the scheme started in 2001.

Members of ³ÉÈ˶¶Òõ College attended the unveiling where a new variety of white miniature gladiolus named 'Thursday's Child', in tribute to Dikki's areoplane, was baptised.
